St. Anselm’s School Hosts Spectacular Finale of ISR DaVinci SoccerBot Championship

In a spectacular display of innovation and teamwork, St. Anselm’s Senior Secondary School in Abu Road hosted the grand finale of the DaVinci SoccerBot Championship (DSC) 2024 on Saturday, October 19th. This marked the culmination of a month-long journey that saw eight teams of student compete for the coveted championship title.

The atmosphere was electric as Super Strikers emerged victorious, showcasing exceptional robotics skills and strategic prowess. Robo Rangers secured a commendable second place, demonstrating their dedication and ingenuity. The championship, a unique blend of sports and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education, provided students with an unparalleled platform to apply their knowledge and creativity in a real-world setting.

The event was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, Fr Joseph, General Counsellor of Education, Br Griban, Principal of St. Mary’s School, Sr . Blanch, Former Principal of St.Anselm’s. Shri Motiram Kohli, MLA, was the Chief Guest of the event. They not only celebrated the students’ achievements but also inspired them with their insights and experiences. This interaction provided a valuable opportunity for the students to gain knowledge and wisdom beyond the confines of textbooks, broadening their horizons and fuelling their aspirations.

The driving force behind this extraordinary event was Fr. Dominic Mundatt, Principal of St. Anselm’s Senior Secondary School. A true visionary, Fr. Dominic recognized the importance of equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the 21st century. His commitment to fostering a future-ready generation led to the meticulous planning and hosting of the DaVinci SoccerBot Championship in collaboration with ISR LIFE, USA.

The championship also witnessed enthusiastic participation from parents, who expressed their appreciation for the school’s efforts in providing a platform for their children to excel. One parent remarked, “I am extremely happy that my son is studying in this school and participating in this competition. I am very happy that he is able to apply his knowledge practically. I am sure he will do very well in the future with all this futuristic learning. The school is providing a very good platform for the students.”

The DaVinci SoccerBot Championship is an outcome of the ISR STEAM Experiential Learning program, an integral part of the school’s curriculum. This innovative approach goes beyond traditional rote learning, encouraging students to design, build, and code their robots for the soccer matches. Through hands-on activities and collaborative projects, students develop essential skills such as teamwork, entrepreneurship, and project management.

“This was a groundbreaking event that seamlessly integrated soccer with technology offering a unique blend of fun and learning for the students of St. Anselm’s School, Abu Road” said Farhat Jabin, Event Manager.

This is an era where STEAM education is revolutionising learning by promoting active engagement, innovation, and the gamification of education. This method dispels the intimidation of failure, enabling students to appreciate the significance of weaving technology into daily learning experiences, with the DSC serving as an ideal stage for this transformation.

The DaVinci SoccerBot Championship is a testament to ISR’s commitment to project-based learning. Now in its fourth edition, this pan-India competition encourages interdisciplinary learning and the development of essential 21st-century skills.

The STEAM Lab at St. Anselm’s Senior Secondary School serves as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship. Students are encouraged to generate creative ideas, build prototypes, and explore the possibility of launching their own ventures.
