Hyderabad, March 22: As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 kicks off, Hyderabad is all set to host nine matches at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal, including the first qualifier and the eliminator. The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), last year’s runners-up, will begin their campaign against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on March 23 in what promises to be an electrifying match.
To ensure a safe and seamless experience for fans, the Hyderabad Police have made elaborate security arrangements in and around the stadium. Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Sudheer Babu has confirmed the deployment of 3,000 police officials, including special units for women’s safety.
Security and Women’s Safety Measures
With the stadium accommodating up to 39,000 spectators, security has been tightened to avoid any untoward incidents. Police personnel will be stationed at key entry and exit points, inside the stadium, and across the surrounding areas to manage crowds and traffic flow efficiently.
A special emphasis has been placed on women’s safety, with ‘She Teams’ actively patrolling the venue. These teams, launched by the Telangana Police, work undercover to prevent harassment and ensure a safe environment for female attendees. Their presence is expected to enhance security and encourage more families to attend IPL matches without concerns.
Late-Night Metro Services for Fans
Understanding the challenges of post-match transportation, the Hyderabad Metro authorities have been requested to extend services beyond regular hours on match days. This will provide fans with a convenient and safe option to return home after the matches without facing travel issues.
“We have nine matches that will take place here… the stadium has a capacity of 39,000. Around 3,000 police officials have been deployed for duty. We also have ‘She Teams’ for women’s safety and have requested the metro to run trains late so that spectators can use public transport after the match,” Sudheer Babu told news agency ANI.
