Zomato is Now Eternal: Corporate Affairs Ministry Approves Name Change

In a significant corporate restructuring, Zomato Limited has officially rebranded itself as Eternal Limited, following approval from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA). The change took effect on March 20, 2025, marking a new chapter for the food-tech giant.

The decision to rename the corporate entity was previously approved through a special resolution by Zomato’s shareholders earlier this month. However, while the company’s official name and stock ticker will change, the Zomato brand and app for food delivery will remain unchanged.

Eternal Limited: A Multi-Business Powerhouse

With this transformation, Eternal Limited now serves as the umbrella entity for four major businesses:

  1. Zomato – The popular food delivery platform that remains a household name in India.

  2. Blinkit – The quick commerce service specializing in ultra-fast grocery and essentials delivery.

  3. Hyperpure – A B2B supplies platform catering to restaurants and food businesses.

  4. District – A logistics and infrastructure arm focusing on efficient supply chain solutions.

The rebranding reflects Zomato’s evolution beyond food delivery, with Blinkit now playing a crucial role in shaping the company’s future.

CEO Deepinder Goyal’s Vision for Eternal

Zomato Founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal shared insights into the rebranding decision, stating that the name change was long envisioned as the company diversified into new areas.

In a letter to shareholders last month, Goyal explained that “Eternal” had been used internally ever since the acquisition of Blinkit. He revealed that the rebranding would only happen publicly when Zomato’s future was driven by something beyond food delivery—a milestone that Blinkit has now helped achieve.

“When we acquired Blinkit, we started using ‘Eternal’ internally to distinguish between the company and the brand/app. Today, with Blinkit, I feel we are there. We would like to rename Zomato Ltd, the company (not the brand/app), to Eternal Ltd,” he stated.

Transition to Eternal: What Changes?

  • The corporate entity will now be officially known as Eternal Limited.

  • The stock ticker will be updated to reflect the new corporate identity.

  • The company’s official website will transition from Zomato.com to Eternal.com.

  • The Zomato brand for food delivery remains unchanged, ensuring no disruption for customers.
